My story
I often joke that I learned a lot of my facilitation skills through my identity as a middle child! I became very skilled at anticipating what the group needed to stay connected and grounded, and this has served me well in my adult life. But I also was late to learn how to name my own wants, needs, and desires in a group, and found in my adult life that I was often afraid of conflict or disagreement as I thought it was something to be avoided at all times, and didn’t quite see the generative qualities conflict provides.
I have worked in many different settings over the last 15 years including schools, start-ups, and as a freelance facilitator with organizations throughout the USA. I've studied with renowned civil rights leaders, innovators in the field of psychology, world traveling grief ritualist, movement artist, and musicians. And I’ve had no greater teacher than the young people in my life; my nieces and nephews, little cousins. My students. So much of how I orient to my work is connected to the understanding that I am leaving this world to the next generation. Though, today I work mostly with adults, my work in schools and as a children’s music artist has clarified my commitment to being the change I want to see in the world and keeping my imagination and creativity engaged enough to continue dreaming.
